Bing powers New Facebook post Translation tool
Facebook have today announced the launch of new translation technology powered by Microsoft Bing. The new feature will help the millions of global Facebook view posts in their native language.
While many page administrators will select to show only these machine translations, Facebook have noted that there is an option to allow users to submit their own translations. If the crowdsourced translation receives approval from the community, it will replace the Bing translation.
The new integrated translation software will be useful for brands with an international following. By using this new tool, businesses will be able to engage with foreign audiences, and ensure that there will be more clicks per content. While Bings latest translation software may not be 100% accurate, the free translations are both cost-effective and quick.
Currently, the translation button only appears for users who have their language set to Korean, Japanese, Russian, Taiwanese, or Chinese. However, if Facebook were to apply this software to other popular languages, or allowed it to be used for adverts, it could help support international growth.
