Yahoo! Expands Language base with launch of Bengali Service
Yahoo! India and Ananda Bazar Patrika have announced a partnership that will strive to deliver premium digital content in Bengali to the Indian market. The online property, Bengali.yahoo.com, will utilise the combined editorial strengths of ABP and Yahoo! India, a company statement revealed.
Yahoo! India now offer content in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, and Bengali. The service will provide the latest news, ranging from politics, sports, entertainment, global affairs, and even local news from Kolkata.
Discussing the launch, Arun Tadanki, managing director of Yahoo! India and Southeast Asia told Indian news outlet IBN Live, “The launch of Bengali on Yahoo! India is another milestone in our journey to expand language portfolio with a view to make our content relevant for new Internet users who seek to consume content in their own language.”
Tandaki also added that, “Yahoo!’s reach, combined with ABP’s vast experience in generating and serving Bengali content, will provide a superior digital content experience to Bengalis around the world.”
The site was built upon the Yahoo! Publishing Platform, and is now being jointly managed by Yahoo! and My Ananda Bazar Patrika.
